Being successful in today’s high stress workforce takes more than just a keen business sense and the right resources. In order to be successful in any industry you need to cultivate a strong inner fortitude.

What I mean by this is that, we have to take the time to renew our own personal strength so that when times get tough, we do not break under the pressure. Now, there are a lot of ways in which this could be achieved; exercise, wine, or a good conversation with a close friend, but history has shown us that using mantras for personal growth is one of the healthy ways for women to build themselves up.

According to Every Woman Network, mantras have been proven to enable a meditative state of mind in which you can then approach the chaotic business world (and the other areas of your life) more calmer and relaxed.

Many professional women today are using mantras to stay, not only on top of their game, but also ahead of the negativity which can potentially surround those who reach a high level of success. The way we think is much like an inner cheerleader who is either building up the resilience of our minds or tearing them down. From Bethany Mota (YouTube Superstar) to Patricia O’Hagan (CEO of Core Systems), professional women all over the world have paved the way to success by first believing that they can.

Taking the first step has always been seen as the hardest part of any journey, but I tend to believe that for women, the hardest part is continuing to take the many steps which comes after it. But we can keep making those steps, if we take some simple measures to set ourselves up for success.

Here’s some tips on how you can choose your own personal mantra.

  1. Pintrest is a great resource for quotes and sayings, I’ve set up two boards called “Powerful Women” & “Mantra’s” you can check out for some empowering options. Whatever moves you, go ahead and pin it to a private board you can create for brainstorming. I recommend you look for short quotes though, it needs to be something you can remember in full!
  2. Narrow it down to the top 4, the ones that make you feel a mindshift when you say them out loud (and yes, you should say each one out loud, a few times to get a feel for it!)
  3. Try each one out for a week (this will give you a month of mantra’s!) and see how it helps (or doesn’t) when you repeat it to yourself during times of stress. Does it calm your heart? Are you able to take a breath and be reassured by the words?
